Wobenzym N – tried and tested

Wobenzym N was first introduced in Germany around 50 years back. Wobenzym N is safe, trusted and very effective and has been used by over 100 million people around the world.

How Wobenzym N works: Enzymes are biological catalysts that are involved in various metabolic processes of our body. Activities like breathing, growth, digestion of food, immunity of the body etc cannot be performed without enzymes. These activities support the healing processes of our body.

Wobenzym N contains a highly concentrated enzyme compound of natural origin. After a vigorous workout the body experiences inflammation. This inflammation causes swelling and pain in the joints, muscles, ligaments and tendons. The enzymes in Wobenzym N help the body in maintaining healthy inflammation levels and all these symptoms subside quickly.

There is an enteric coating on the Wobenzym N tablets which protects the enzymes and ensures that they reach the small intestine where absorption occurs appropriately. This coating ensures that the body gets the full benefit of all the enzymes in the tablet. This is the main reason why Wobenzym N has to be taken between meals, it must be transported through your stomach to the small intestine intact. If you would take Wobenzym after your meal your high gastric acid levels could digest and destroy enzymes, the active ingredients of this supplement.

Wobenzym N is used to:

  • Maintain healthy joints:
Joint pains can occur either due to excessive physical training, due to old age, sitting for long hours in front of the computer, because we pursued some intense activity temporarily etc. When a particular joint is giving you trouble, you tend to shift your weight to the other joints and end up stressing them. This may lead to joint problems in other parts of our body.
Wobenzym N is a medication that will give you immediate relief and help you to maintain healthy joints on a daily basis.

  • Give relief from muscle soreness:
Most fitness freaks love pushing their bodies and challenging their limits. The burning sensation that they feel in their muscles is caused due to the micro tears in the muscles. So it is imperative that they should take it easy to give time to their muscles to recover. If you want your muscles to recover quickly so that you can hit the treadmill again quickly – Wobenzym N is your saviour.

It aids and supports the natural healing process and will get you to the gym and training faster.

  • Recover from sports injuries and muscle pain:
Athletes simply cannot afford to let their muscle soreness recover naturally. They have to participate in a competition again within a short span of time. After a vigorous workout of a competition, the athlete experiences soreness in his muscles, ligaments, joints and tendons. To prevent these symptoms from turning into a full fledged sports injury, Wobenzym N is highly recommended. Its unique enzyme action supports the natural healing process and aids in speedy recovery from muscle soreness and joint pain.

  • Give more flexibility and mobility:
Whether you are a fitness freak, an athlete or a person with several years behind you – Wobenzym N maintains the health of the joints thereby enabling you to stretch and bend without experiencing any pain.

Additional information about Wobenzym N:

Wobenzym should be taken between meals. You can take it 45 minutes before your meal or an hour and a half after your meal.
Digestive discomfort or stomach cramps may be one of the side effects that may affect some people.
There are four variations of Wobenzym in the market: Wobenzym Plus, Wobenzym N Classic, Wobenzym Vegan, Wobenzym PS.
This is a nutritional supplement, not a medication, so you don’t need a prescription from your doctor. Though it’s powerful supplement so before taking it you should discuss it with your health care provider, especially if you’re on other drugs.

How does this interact with a person with kidney disease?

    • Lynn says:

Did you get any response on the kidney disease? I have kidney issues and am not supposed to take advil or aleve etc. etc becaue of the strain it puts on my kidneys and that is why I am looking at taking this. I thought because this is all natural it would not harm my kidneys? Any info would be appreciated.

  2. Camille says:

My husband has kidney issues as well and would like to know what effect Wobenzyme-N would have on his kidneys.

    • mc says:

if you are looking for a good kidney support, check out “Kidney Cleanse” by Renew Life or Enzymatic Therapy first and then “kidney support” by Banyan Botanicals for ongoing strengthening. I wouldn’t stress kidneys without strenghthening them first, esp. if he has pain. Then start slow. gl

I have been taking Wobenzym-n for a month. I usually wake up once during the middle of the night so it’s easy to take the three tablets on an empty stomach. My dose is three tablets daily.

My problem is my blood pressure has suddenly elevated quite high, just like when I take Motrin An elevated blood pressure brings its

    • Anonymous says:

Sara, I too have recently expereinced a sudden elevated blood pressure after taking the Wobenzyme N product for approximately 5 days at the recommended dosage of 3 tablets, twice a day daily on an empty stomach at least 45 minutes prior to a meal. It started as general fatigue approximately 3 days ago, followed by a bounding pulse even though my pulse rate is <60bpm (resting). As noted, my blood pressure has been elevated, coupled with a "jittery" feeling, which my Dr. indicated is associated with the elevated blood pressure condition. I ams discontinuing use of this product as of today. I am a 34y.o. male, non-smoker who exercises regularly and is in reasonably good health. This is the only recent change to my diet/supplement routine (multi-vitamin, glucosimine/chondroitin, fish oil) which I recent made for the hope of minimizing muscle ache and supporting joint health. I'm going back to Ibuprofen for minor muscle inflimation.

      • Ho says:

Don’t start with 3 tablet, just start with one first. For me, I do alternate days and if I have the jitters, I skip a few days. Also, it is wise to drink a lot of water so that the toxins that the enzymes are clearing out can be flushed out better so you won’t have so much palpitations etc. I know the enzymes are cleaning out the rubbish in my body so I expect to feel weird, especially in the beginning, sometimes I even have headaches. I try to drink a quart of water in the morning with the juice of one fresh lemon added to it. Add vegetable juices for breakfast, plus a salad for lunch and you will soon feel great, but not immediately, especially if you have been taking a lot of junk in the past, start slow, maintain and press on, rest a few days from it, start slow again. The enzymes are house cleaning, so remember to drink filtered water abundantly.

I have taken Wobenzyn N off and on for years, and never had anything but good results. Several years ago I hurt my left knee (bumped into a chair) It hurt so much the next day,so I started on the W. and I took 5 three times a day 35min. before eating. The pain was gone in two days and started working right away. There is a book in print about Wobenzym “Beyond Aspirin” Try to find it.It never raised my blood pressure

Anonymus, Have you tested for gluten or dairy intolerance? Here is a good site where you can order extremely sensitive stool sample tests: http://www.enterolab.com I have sore joints when I consume dairy–especially milk. If you have leaky gut, then you might be having a blood reaction that would cause inflammation where you are genetically predisposed, (I have a brain reaction from ingesting gluten). Your reaction may be from either a sensitivity to the wobenzym itself or from the breaking up of a cluster of toxins already in your system.

    • eric says:

Duh, it thins the blood, so your pressure will go UP

      • abbyf says:

        Eric, you are very rude!

        • matt says:

blood thinners do not make blood pressure go up. they make the pressure go down.

          • Rob says:

It is my understanding that enzymes are NOT a blood thinner, but just reduce platelet aggregation, which is about breaking up the clumps of platelets, not the same as thinning your blood. Platelet aggregation is important function when we are cut or bleeding, but in the arteries it clogs and creates strokes and heart attacks.

  5. Bonanik says:

I took Wobenzym for severe back pain. It provided great relief for the back pain. However, the pain relief was accompanied with severe diarrhea and some nausea that lasted for about 2 – 3 hours. I took only 1 pill on an empty stomach and it created all that discomfort. Haven’t taken any Wobenzym since that episode, but would love to hear if there is any known way to avoid the gastric distress since the pain relief aspect was phenomenal.

    • Coach says:

Have you tried any of the zija products I have gotten great results and pain relief for my knees I have artheritis and a torn miniscus disk and it has relieved a great bit of pain, check out this web site rjharris.myzijastory.com sign in and watch the video and then inbox me

      • Daniel Garza says:

Coach! Arthritis, torn meniscus, this is exactly the issue my mother has. I have been looking for hours for something to help her, the woman is only 42 and can’t walk or stand for more than 20 minutes at a time, and its finally at the emotional breaking point. Now, as you have similar issues, can you tell me a bit more about the supplements you take to alleviate these issues? I see you mention here Zija, I have taken a look at their site and it looks very cool, but which of them is the product that has helped you?

        Much thanks,
        Daniel

        • SGB says:

Zija is a great product. I have been taking the weight management products along with the Smartmix and tea for about a month and my knees feel better than I ever remember them feeling. I felt exactly as you explain your mother feeling before Zija. Great stuff!

I also experience a lot of what everyone else experiencing. Papaltations, upset stomach, headaches and GASSS at the begging. it feels like a detox.Gas is a horrible smell but i was told that its all the bad coming out. try pepperment tea for the gas and upset stomach. if that doesnt calm down you might want to try gas-x or beano.

  7. Cranberry112 says:

I purchased the product on Saturday for relief of knee pain. I was so excited that I popped 3 pills as soon as I was in my car. About 30 minutes later, I knew what those side effects were. My stomach was cramping and I had severe diarrhea. After actually reading about the side effects, I decided to lower my dose to 1 tablet three times daily, until my body adjust. I have not had any more episodes since.

    • Deb says:

Try eating a full meal. this does help. i think Wombenzym is strong and thats why we have those systems. so about 1/2 hr after taking this you should eat.

    • Elizabeth says:

This product will help the inflamation, but you need to repair whats actually causing the problem, which is usually wear and tear which leads to carlilage damage. Collagen, Silica and SP.96 for acidosis can help reverse the degeneration.

  8. Julie says:

I just started taking Wobenzym four days ago and my blood pressure has increased dramatically. I was trying it for fibromyalgia and it did seem to help especially in my tender point, but I am going to stop taking it. It is the only new supplement that I have started so I can’t think of any other reasons for the change. Make sure and talk to your Dr. before starting new supplements and use common sense. My bloos pressure can run a little high sometimes due to anxiety, but within 4 days it went from 135/80 to 160/90. Good luck!

    • Julie says:

I forgot to add this in my post above. I also experienced gastric problems such as cramping and loose stools. My Dr. said it should not be effecting my blood pressure, but I have always been sensitive to medication and supplements.

      • Deb says:

Yes it does affect the blood pressure as you can see its affecting everyones pressure which is scary. Doesnt seem like a detox that helps rid pain?

        • Patricia Gragg says:

Wobenzyme has never raised my blood pressure, and it didn’t affect my stomach in a negative way,but it does have to be taken on an empty stomach 45min. before eating. If there is a lot of inflammation in the body, it may cause some reaction, as even without wobenzyme the blood pressure can go up if there is a lot going on inside that you that you may not be aware of.If you can read the book “Beyond Asprin” you will know all you need to know about it.

  9. Wendy says:

Hi Julie. Sounds like we share the same things. I started on Wobenzym N about 2 weeks ago. I had the side effects for about 2 days. Things seemed to level out after that other than the anxiety. I have switched to one table twice a day. Perfect. Like you my body responds quickly. Very sensitive. I also started taking Wobenzym N for fibromyalgia. It does the job for pain. I also take Holy Basil for the anxiety. Have been on Holy Basil for about a year. It is wonderful for the emotional side of fibromyalgia. Thanks for sharing. Be happy and wellbeing.

    • Sandy says:

Hi, Wendy. I started on Wobenzym N about 4 days ago at the recommended dose of 3 tabs/2X day. I am an old personal trainer/prervious pharmaceutical rep, very sensitive to medications and do not take any RX meds. I have a lot of inflamation, and all the symptoms of fibromyalgia. Since starting on the Wobensym I have experienced a significant increase in pain, flu-like symptoms, loose bowels, fatigue, and my allergies have gone crazy. I am not sure about increase in BP, as I have not checked. I normally have very low BP. It does seam likely that I would feel worse for a few days while my body is adjusting. However, not to this extent! I am going to try taking a day off and then start again with a lower dose to see if that helps. Do you feel that Wobenzyn N has helped with the pain of fibromyalgia? I am desparate to get some relief so that I can continue my exercise routine. Studies have shown that Wobenzyn has helped many athletes.

      Thanks for sharing

      • Elizabeth says:

I am a Naturopath and have prescribed many enzymatic products for various ailments. I also supply wobenzym N for inflammatory conditions. I personally think it’s best to start on a low dosage especially if you have a sensitive digestive tract or taking prescribed supplements. There is a condition called die off, which can cause various symptoms. A lot of fibromyalgia pain can be associated with acidosis, uric acid crystals which settle in the joints, this condition may need to be dealt with first by taking Blackmores celloid SP.96 or taking Pascoe’s pH- Balance to create an acid alkaline balance which will also help when taking your Wobenzym N.

  10. katco says:

I finished my first bottle of 100 count Wobenzym N taking 3 each morning for the duration. I noticed instead of diarrea, constipation, but that was only for a few days initially. The benefits were quite obvious as I no longer ached all over from the inflammation that was affecting my knees, ankles, hands and back.
Life is better and I will continue to take it.

  11. Paulette says:

Have been on Wobenzym N for one year for my rheumatoid. My pain and inflammation have decreased. My C-Rective Protein went from .88 to .10. My cardiologist wanted to know what I have been taking to lower my C-R Protein. I have lost weight but and eating the same amount of food. Recently, my husband wanted to get on Wobenzym-N. He has been on it for two weeks. He was feeling some aches in his upper thign area. Yesterday, he happened to take his blood pressure, It was 188/94!! It remained high all day even after taking his blood pressure medicine. After reading the above comments, he must stop taking the W. We are sorry because he was starting to loss his belly fat. Thank you

    • Ann says:

      Paulette,

Consider having your husband take magnesium–you might try it, too. It is a natural vasodilator. A really good supplement is “Jigsaw Magnesium with SRT”, which you can order online. It is sustained release and so you can take a higher amount without getting loose stools.
Most people in America are magnesium deficient. You need mg to process calcium properly. It you are deficient, calcium ends up in the wrong places like clinging to artery walls, where plaque builds up in the same manner as a pearl is formed around a piece of grit in an oyster. Mg lowers blood pressure, keeps heart rhythm healthy and metabolizes calcium so that it can be used as the body intended.

My husband takes hypertensive medications; no blood thinners; however cautherization for a massive deudoneal ulcer in May/2011 due to NASIDS./aspirin????? Is Wobenzym N safe for him???????????????? Started out at three per day. Do not want this ulcer bleeding due to the Wobenzym. Need comments and professional replies.

It seems as though your “?” key is stuck.
I just started Wobenzym n yesterday. 5 at a time on an empty stomach twice a a day. So far no issues with gastro or blood pressure. I do feel less inflamed like when you take an Aleve. I have chronic back pain and knee pain and high blood pressure. Crossing my fingers.

    • Deb says:

Be careful because it does make your pressure rise along with papaltations. far as his ulcers get some aloe vera juice, this will help heal the stomach. im a witness to that……

  13. therese says:

ive been on wobenzyme in and out but once took aspirin for some reason. and my throat bell disappeared in one side and severe immediate colds and throat mucus. ive never been allergic to aspirin but i realized it was not to be taken with wobenzym as it says in bottle.. its deadly combination. i went to emergency rm to subdue my severe allergy and was ok after 4 hrs. i dint take aspirin ever again. and it dint happen anymre. i do take W once in awhile as my thrapist recommended it for my sport bodybldg

  14. Leslie says:

I know the directions state to take it on an empty stomach… Due to other complications… my stomach is rarely empty. This will probably never change.

Do you think I would receive any benefits of the supplement if taken with food? I may even need to grind or crush these tabs to get them down. I’m kinda stuck… but would love to get off of Rx anti inflammatories.

    • john says:

You have to take on a empty stomach or the enzymes will only “digest” the food, and won’t look for any other problems in your body. Also you have to take them whole and not broken or crushed because your breaking the coating and the enzymes won’t live long enough to be absorbed.

  15. Carolyn e says:

I am a runner and laid up with an Achilles tendon and calcification on the back of my heel. Will wobenzym help?

  16. Leah says:

I have fibromyagia, and Wobenzym N was recommended to me by a seemingly knowledgable sales person at a vitamin store.

Has anyone had success decreasing tenderness and joint pain? How long did it take before seeing successs?I’m currently on a morphine medication at night as well as norco (up to 4 times daily)…as well as so many other meds I hate to think about it. (Yeah, no need for anyone to post how horrible these medications are to use…trust me I KNOW. That’s why I’m looking for alternatives.)

    THANKS!

    • Mary says:

Wobenzyme N did amazing things for my frozen shoulder. I started with 2 tablets a day and slowly worked up to 6 a day, in divided doses. I noticed improvements within a few days.

  17. Mark says:

I would consider taking this as it was enthusiastically recommended by the owner or manager of a local health food store(this for inflammation related to cartilage damage in knees) but having had Crohn’s Disease and reading about the diarrhea experienced by some posters I’m hardly about to do that.

  18. Mark says:

A month after my last post, glad to report that after a real commitment to an isometric exercise I found on a website, my knee arthritis has improved substantially. So I have no need for ANY supplement that has glucosamine, chondroitin, enzymes, etc. If it works for others though, that’s great.

  19. shakey says:

My chiropractor recommended these as he takes it himself (avid mountain biker/adventure seeker takes big spill off mountain). I finally picked up a the Wobenzyme P version a few weeks ago and I must state that there has been remarkable improvement in my knee. Side affect Diarrahea but it did stop after a few days.

  20. perry thomas says:

Wobenzyme N has worked fairly well with me thus far. I have lupus, and a condition called, “D.I.S.H.” I look healthy as a horse, but have some chronic pain due to the lupus and joint conditions. So, I started taking this product and it helps a lot. I started out taking 3 morning and 3 late night dosages, so it was too much for my system. I had diaheria for a few days, but it seems to be getting better now. Other than that, no real problems. I take warfarrin, so I have to be careful…………..and my doctor hasn’t said much about these two drugs being taken together. My bloodpressure has actually been lower since starting Wobenzyme N.

  21. Ron Melton says:

I’ve been taking Wobenzym-N 15 pills per day, 5 in the morning, 5 at lunch, 5 in the evening along with a Moringa product called Zija. I was told to take this by product formulator Russ Bianchi.
It is reversing my Insulin Type II diabetes and my peripheral neuropathy (pain level 8) is now virtually non existence (pain level 1). Please note it takes 1 to 2 months to see ANY results on the neuropathy. But it works!!!!!

  22. Priscilla Horswell says:

I tore my rotator cuff back in January 2011, I was in pain for 6 months straight – hardly any sleep. I tried wobenzyme and had 0 pain after taking 5-10 tablets 45min before lunch and supper for 2 weeks. Now I use it on and off and still have 0 pain. I do eat organic/natural foods, no chemicals anywhere in my house or on my body. I did however have one reaction with this product – my clausterphobia tripled at times especially at night in bed – I could never sleep with my head flat, I always had to be supported by a large fluffy pillow. Other than that I feel awesome with this product. I think people need to realize that it is all about your digestion and stress. Many things I’ve read about the blood pressure/heart palpitations all have to do with the stool backed up in their gut and the enzymes trying to push it out. One great quote “You are what you eat” I had to learn that the hard way 8 years ago with colon cancer. had 2-3 months to live….went the natural route and in 6 months was cancer free with the right diet and excellent Naturopathic doctor. Please look at what you eat before anything else. I read a great book that was very helpful “Eat right for your blood type” – excellent read and it worked for me. Best Wishes.

  23. Sherri says:

I have been on Wobenzyn N for 1 week and get a dry mouth and upset stomach. Now I have read if you are allergic to wheat, which I am I should not be taking it. Anyone else with wheat sensitivities have any issues?

  24. Jane says:

Hi! Are most of you taking the Garden of Life Wobenzym or the Mucos Pharma? I’ve been taking 3 of the Garden of Life Brand a day for about a month and have noticed a slight difference. I eat 25 fruits and veggies a day, so I’m getting awesome nutrition. I just have a slight problem with carpal tunnel that I’m trying to rectify. Also, have a great chripractor.

  25. Mark says:

As I wrote in several posts back, this product shouldn’t be taken by someone with an inflammatory bowel condition(ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s Disease) since diarrhea is ALREADY a symptom of those illnesses and it would be unwise to aggravate the problem with Wobenzym.

  26. Elizabeth says:

I’m on first week of taking wobenzym N 3 tabs 2x a day for my knee pain. After reading all the reviews some noticed their blood pressure went up.It never came to my mind that wobenzym N is the reason that my blood pressure is high these few days. For the past months without hypertensive pills I felt good and my BP is very normal.Does this mean wobenzym N is not for me?
Thank you.I urgently need a reply!

    • Mark says:

Why don’t you do what I just did for knee pain?(of course I acknowledge yours might be more involved or serious than mine). I have chondromalacia patella or arthritis of the kneecap so I went to a medical supply place and for all of twenty bucks purchased a “knee strap”. Wear it most of the day, esp. for the left knee which has more cartilage damaged from rubbing the ground too much years ago when I should have worn knee pads for my work. But the results have been excellent, this after about a week or so.

  27. Mark says:

BTW, it’s called the “Original Knee Strap” and you can google about it, even order it online.

  28. may says:

Ok, i’ve been taking 3 a day for the 1st couple days. My body reacted w/ diarhea and nausea. So I started taking 2/day, and still got the same results. So I started taking 2 every other day- still same results. I have t1 diabetes and noticed that my sugars are more in control. I also eat less, but that is probably an effect of feeling nausea and seeing all food as blaaa- I just wanna throw up. I think I lost like 5 pounds. What if I’m actually pregnant? Yet, I don’t think you can be full blow nausea a week before your period is due. I like this supplement, but my morning nausea is annoying.

  29. Julie says:

Took Wobenzym N (started with only two pills) and felt jittery and anxious soon after. My blood pressure went up and I suffered from a headache for most of the day. I felt bad all day due to the anxiety and head ache. I will not take this product again. I am very sensitive to all drugs and am sure that I am sensitive to this product too. I am sure it works well for some, just not me.

  30. Mark says:

From what I’m reading about all these adverse side effects, they should be posted on the bottle. People need to know the risk they’re taking with these kinds of things.

  31. luis says:

Has anyone used this product to alleviate tendon injuries? I have a bad case of tendonitis and healing is taking forever. I am considering using this product.

  32. Merrill Piera says:

I am scheduled for colon re-section next Tuesday to remove a stricture of scar tissue which has been forming and narrowing over 10 years.
Upon consulting about the use of Serrapeptase it was suggested I use Wobenzyme post surgically as an anti-inflammatory. (The person I spoke with had not heard about Serrapeptase/Serratia).
I picked up a bottle of Wobenzym N, Garden of Life, and decided to start taking it ahead of time to get a sense of my body’s response. I followed the “3 at a time on an empty stomach”, once a day for three days
with sudden, immediate , pretty severe consequences until I could no longer bear the continual cramping, bloating, diarrhea, and I stopped. I was puzzled and scared. Symptoms continued another day or so until I took a dose of milk of magnesia and had some relief. A week later I am fine but my “gut” still tender. My diverticulosis never made me feel THIS bad.
So now, today, I’m reading here about side effects and have decided it wouldn’t be a good idea to subject my colon to such activity when it’s trying to heal. I wish I had become aware sooner, with enough time to ease into taking Wobenzym N as it still sounds very promising.
I would very much like to hear more about the comparison between the Garden of Life product as opposed to the Mucos/Douglas Labs product. The ingredients are listed as identical.
[I have been taking Serratia Peptidase Enzyme (90,000 units) for 5 days with no ill effects].

I will be grateful for comments on my posting.
Thank you all for your contributions to this blog.

I am pretty healthy thank you Lord and was interested in this product for overall wellness. Can you give me advice on this. Thank you all on your comments Coreen

    • Deb says:

Well, it seems as though it makes your blood pressure rise along with soft stool, and or constipation, ( which grips you when you do go) upset stomach and sometimes vomiting. You cant take asprin along with this cause it makes everything worse. BUT, the pain did sudside for a few hrs. Try this for the swelling take Potassium this promotes normal fluid in the body.If your not going to take Wombenzym take vitamin B*12 and B*6 this will help with circulation along with 81mg asprin. If your getting swelling thus may mean your heart may not be pumping blood flow properly.

  35. Kellie says:

Wobenzym is an excellent product. I got great relief from a ruptured disk in my back with Zija. I also lost 30 pounds and my cholesterol/triglycerides normalized. I like Zija because it is a drink and it is made from one plant source with nothing artificial or processed and no artificial sweeteners.

    • Caron says:

    • J says:

I have taken the wobenzyme for about a month. I have lost weight about 4 pounds but am small and did not really want that to happen. However, the pain in my joints and spine have lessened but I am quite warm (warmer than usual) and very very emotional–so I think I am going to stop taking it. Anyone else have that reaction…sad and weepy. ugh. thanks,

can someone pls tell me if wobenzym n or wobenzym p are the same.

  39. Robert Ray says:

Wow, now I have concerns. I got a strong hepatic reaction to taking Wobenzyme. I chalk that up to detox, but hey, I wasn’t expecting or prepared for that. Has anyone heard of this? I suffered days of what would appear to be a hepatitis reaction, but I don’t have hepatitis.

  40. W. Prufer says:

Took first pill last night on empty stomach. Woke up at 5:30 a.m. & took 2nd & went back to bed. When I woke up about an hour later to eat my breakfast, I was so dizzy I had to use a cane to not fall & stay steady. Took 3rd pill 45 mins before lunch today – all is well. I’d say go very slow & keep reading this site. I’m taking Wobenzym N for heavy, sometimes unbearable arthritis pain because I can’t take any NSAIDs, aspirin, and many pain prescriptions..

  41. Linda says:

I quit taking it as it didn’t seem to do a thing for me but ost $$$$$. Still in pain. Now found a great acunpurist that is working great or my pain of 30 yrs

  42. Dee says:

After a few months now of taking 3 pills/ day ive had more energy in my running and gum workouts, lost weight and look more toned. Its great supplement for exercse

  43. William Milne says:

A naturpathic physician recommended that I take Wobenzym N along with other products for pulmonary fibrosis. After a month or so I started having paralysis in my hands. This was painful but was quickly eliminated by massage. It was quite frightening. I consulted GP’s and other specialists who could not identify the cause. I gave thought to Wobenzym having an effect on joints so I stopped using it a couple of weeks ago. My hands are no longer suffering these symptoms.

    • William Milne says:

I recently complained about Wobenzym N causing paralysis of my hands. An unfortunate coicidence – the problem originated soon after I started taking Wobenzym N. I have learned the true cause of the paralysis/cramps – a low salt diet. By adding salt to my food the problem has disappeared. I humbly apologise to the manufacturers of the product and advise that I have resumed my use of it.

      • Jo says:

How are you doing? Is the pulmonary fibrosis getting worse? I am asking because it is in my family and I worry about my own future. Does the Wobenzym N seem to help?

  44. TC says:

I have been taking 8 Wobenzym tablets per morning on empty stomach, and 3 to 5 at night. I have heard so many great stories about this product, but I’m noticing frequent heart burn, and indigestion. Also have noticed some discomfort swallowing that I did not have a few weeks ago.

Anyone else have any of these reactions, along with minor bowel issues? I have heard on a couple of radio shows that you can take up to 15 tablets 3 times daily for max results. Currious to see if anyone else have had the throat, or indigestion issues.

  45. connie tyler says:

Were you already taking the other products when you started taking the Wobenzym N?

  46. TC says:

Not for a few months, and never for over a week at one time. Just never commited to it until now. Broken ankle 9 months ago, 6 screws, anchor, and plate. Also just taking it for well being.

  47. Kristel says:

I purchased Wobezyme N last Thursday from my neighborhood Sprouts at the suggestion of one of their
employees. He has had great experience with it and was taking 6 in the morning and none during the day. I have considerable knee pain from Osteo Arthritis and was looking to ease that pain. I started with 6 capsules first thing in the morning before breakfast and have not really experienced any side effects as detailed above. However, after reading all these posts, I will probably try taking only 3 in the morning and 3 later in the day. It is hard to find a time when my stomach is empty during the day as I like to eat many small meals a day to keep my blood sugar fairly even.I feel pretty good today but am not sure if this is real or the placebo effect….either way, it is nice not to hurt. I’ll keep you all posted on my experience.

  48. Giglio Santo says:

I have taking Wobenzym N for years and it has helped me with my post surgery knee pain. However, a few months ago, I started taking the “Garden of Life” brand for the first time and have noticed a difference in a negative way. The pain in my knee has come back, as I wonder if there is a substantial disparity in the ingredients, as listed on the bottle. Although the bottle lists, “Made in Germany”, I cannot help to wonder as to where the ingredients are grown. Hopefully NOT China! As a result, I called up Douglas Laboratories, who could not give me any definite information at all. This worries me, as I cannot obtain their original brand but only the “Garden of Life”, which I will no longer buy! I feel that the consumer is entitled to some answers, which are not attainable at this time.

  49. Giglio Santo says:

Still no explanation from the Wobenzym N company. I guess they have nothing constructive to really say! Since most of the ingredients of vitamins etc. products these days, are grown in China, why should address this issue and loose customers!!!

  50. Mark says:

Maybe I addressed this before, I don’t know. In the first place, I wouldn’t take Wobenzym due to probable side effect(gastrointestinal problem). But I’ve had some very good success with knee arthritis(due to worn out cartilage) by regularly doing isometric exercise I discovered on some website. So I can easily walk up and down the stairs in my house with no residual discomfort which used to happen alot. And there’s practically very little pain most of the day besides.

  51. Juan72 says:

Can this be taken for pancreatitis. SInce pancreatitis is inflammation of the pancreas I’m thinking this could help if taken in small doses… Am I right? I appreciate any response.

    • Mark says:

I wouldn’t recommend it for that and not necessarily because it wasn’t designed for that to begin with. You’re best off consulting a doctor.

  52. Kristel says:

It has been two weeks since I started the Wobenzym N. I take 5 tablets each morning before I eat. I have seen an improvement in my knee discomfort and hip discomfort. The taste of the tablets is icky so I try to place them on the tip of my tongue rather than the back before I swallow them. That helps avoid the icky flavor. I think the product is performing as represented. I have had NO
problems with heart burn or bowel problems. I will buy it again.+

  53. lola says:

Hi, I would like to know if wombenzyme N works for blocked fallopian tubes as im on my last resort. PLEASE can some 1 tell me if its worked for them or not

  54. Sally says:

The last three weeks, I started experiencing pain in my hip joints and tailbone; then moderate in the elbows and knees. Noticed my mattress was shot; so, I purchased a new one which has helped to a point but the pain continues.

I took two Wobenzym N tablets and experienced queasiness, diarrhea, and the sensation or feeling like I swallowed something and it got stuck somewhere under my breastbone. Since the episode, I haven’t taken any more pills.

I have GERD and am asking: if anyone with GERD has taken Wobenzym N with this condition? Can you tell me of your experience? My diet is fairly bland; so I have no burning.

    Thanks in Advance

P.S. I have an appt with a doctor coming up soon and suspect he won’t know anything about this product.

  55. Mark says:

Since I can’t take Wobenzym but am considering getting an injection of Hyaluronic acid for mild to moderate knee arthritis, wondering if anyone else has done that?

  56. V.Noel says:

I started taking Wobenzym-N about 12 days ago. Been taking as directed 3tablets twice a day = 6daily on empty stomach.
I have noticed little side effects … Minor upset stomach at beginning but has cleared up. No problems with anxiety nor elevated blood pressure so far. The major benefit has been that it has helped my lower back pain (main reason I take it). I took similar enzyme product “Zymitol” for about 3 yrs. until the company I bought from stopped selling it.

  57. Art Palmer says:

My! All these adverse comments from people who have taken 3 tablets. Gee Whiz, hope I am doing the right thing by taking 30 (yes 30!) pills three times a day. It’s only been three days since I started however.
I read online somewhere that stated this amount for arthritis. That is, for 15 days, then to reduce amounts at a specific step-down rate. I’ve been thinking I might actually feel some better, but am not sure, since I
do have many ongoing symptoms. But after reading some of these comments, I just don’t want to, of course, jeopardize my health. Any advice?!

    • M says:

Art, Be careful. IIRC there was an article on pubmed about enzyme supplementation for diabetics (with pancreatine insufficiency (or something)) in an area where malnutrition is common. What they found was that a sudden change in taking (halting) the enzymes could spike sugar downward rabidly – and should only be done in the hospital. This probably does not apply to you if you are not diabetic but you may want to ramp down (or up) your dose to be safe over a period of time rather than suddenly halting your dose (make sure you have enuf supply.) Also it ,may not apply f you are fully nourished too. Just fyi-

  58. Art Palmer says:

Hope no one took to heart all that I wrote an hour ago, because – goodness gracious – I apparently wasn’t quite operating on all cylinders (my insufficient excuse – besides having chronic insomnia, I probably could use some ginkgo). Anyway, please let me make a belated CORRECTION: I’ve been taking (the past three days) 10 pills three times a day, NOT 30 pills three times a day!! Sorry and thanks.

  59. Sheila P says:

I been taking this product for 2 months now and I was in alot of pain in my hips and hands do to Arthritis. This product has worked very well when nothing else other steroids have been able to stop the pain and inflammation. So this has been great for me because i refuse to take steroids or anything else

  60. Art Palmer says:

Well, I did take the 30 per day dose of Wobenzym for about 3 months. Got tired of scheduling 3 times per day, taking 10 each time on an empty stomach and so switched to 15 tablets twice per day. Pain did become less but certainly did not go away. And sleep slightly increased. I stopped all at once – did not ‘step’ down. Symptoms did return but not quite at the rate as before. 900 tablets per month was a bit costly although I thought worth it. However, now I am pursuing a different approach: lots more pure water in between meals; meals of mostly raw food and hardly no chicken or fish – which I intend to cut out completely anyway, partly for “humane” reasons; and more progressive exercise of a gentle nature: Yoga asanas (not overdoing), walking, especially, up hill, and some chi gong exercises. Also some push ups and other calisthenics, plus I have a rather simple set of light weights of not more than 60 lbs. And lastly an inversion table. Even improving my posture is helping. Determined to kick out pain – it throws a monkey wrench at one’s productivity, besides putting a downer on quality of life.

  61. Patricia M. DeFinis says:

Does WobenzymN help to get rid of a possible firbroid tumor which might be responsible for vagible bleeding

  62. Angela in West Texas says:

I was prescribed this by my chiropractor to take to relieve extreme lower back and hip pain just yesterday. My pain level was at about a 9 yesterday morning and my evening it had diminished to a 1. No kidding. I did make me a little jittery but I won’t take any more unless the pain comes back. I will support this effort by sticking to a strict anti-inflammatory diet. Keeping my fingers crossed.

  63. Kris says:

I have had severe chronic pain and muscle spasms in my head, neck, and shoulders the past 16 years from having emergency brain surgery. My neurosurgeon had to use a high powered drill to sever all my neck muscles and cut all the way up the middle of the back of my head in order to remove my large brain tumor from my left cerebellum. I have tried Anything and Everything the past 16 years and nothing provides me with Relief!

I have always done my own research and have been reading about Wobenzym PS. My Neurologist said a big part of my problem is chronic myofascial pain and trigger point…I think my chronic pain and muscle spasms are very similar to Fibromyalgia.

Do you feel the Wobenzym has helped any of you with primarily severe chronic muscle pain? I am taking Hydrocodone and Nucynta right now for my chronic pain, however it really does nothing for me! My Neurologist just gave me a RX for Neurontin. However, I want to give Wobenzym a chance before I start Neurontin. I am just desperate for any pain relief!

I am going to start off slow and maybe try 1 pill in am and 1 in pm? Then after a week will try 2 in am and 1 in pm, and so on. I like many of you am very sensitive and am concerned about taking this on an empty stomach. But, I am so desperate I think anything is worth a try!

I would greatly appreciate ANY feedback or suggestions. I just placed an order today and should get my 1st bottle of Wobenzym next week. Thanks so much! Kris

    • Patricia Gragg says:

You have to take at least 5 to 10 wobenzyme at least 45 min. before a meal, three times a day. It really works to rid the body of inflammation and take away the pain but stay away from the meds, as they will only make it worse. Drink a lot of alkaline water too. Wobenzyme works, I know.

  64. Peter Listino says:

Frankly, there are a lot of sick people on here looking for the cure to one issue. Unless you are a vegan, not eating meat, not living a toxic lifestyle, working out five-six days a week and living and working in non-toxic environments, one pill or many are not going to do anything. You have to completely detoxify your body and your lifestyle, get rid of meat and dairy, and get healthy. This is not my ‘opinion,’ it is fact based science. If I injure myself, I take 10 tables three times a day as well as do modalities to heal my issue and have none of the side effects mentioned in these comments by others, but unless you are dealing with a clean body and environment, don’t look to any pill to solve your multiple issues. You must do the work to get the results in life, unattached to your money, job, family influence, marketing hype and all the other nonsense to which people pay attention instead of the truth. Detach from the causes, not look for the answer in a remarkable pill.

    • Kris says:

I am a healthcare professional and found your response to be very rude and offensive. You know absolutely nothing about me. I am very healthy and do everything right regarding my diet and exercise, etc. Because of the severity of my brain surgery many years ago, I suffer from chronic pain. You obviously have never dealt with a major surgery and have to deal with chronic pain on a daily basis. You appear to see yourself as “above” everyone else here on this forum, especially by calling all of us “sick.”

I sure hope you are NOT in the medical field. I have dealt with your type many times over the years. People need Hope. I have done a lot of research on Wobenzym and there have been many clinical trials conducted. Wobenzym has helped some people, as evidenced on this forum, and that is a fact. So, if trying Wobenzym gives some people some Hope of getting some pain relief, there is nothing wrong with that.

Try to watch what you say and how you say it. I am sure everyone else on here would appreciate a kinder tone from you. Thank you.

      • Peter Listino says:

I am not moved by judgment with drama of stated facts. In light of your being offended, I question how you define ‘healthcare professional’ as well as your tone of anger. If you are a western medicine person, you are a ‘sickcare professional’, not healthcare professional. Again, this is not a judgment, just the truth of the system. You have to understand the entire medical system to understand that observation. There is no judgment or accusation by my former comments. Yes, I am a medical professional of the level that is not important but let us just say, at the top of the medical field, using both traditional (sick-maintaining and death-causing medicine for the most part, except in selective cases) and integrative (healing-not hiding) medicine. I wish you will on your quest to heal, whatever it is, but certainly arguing on a supplement website is not conducive to your healing journey. All the best!

      • Peter Listino says:

Yes, I have had chronic pain and several surgeries which is why I transformed by practice to holistic medicine. Again, do your homework further in the integrative field. Follow top level organizations like Life Extension and Gary Null and Joseph Mercola and others. I am not passing judgment, but offering you alternatives. Again, I am not here to reply to any further retorts. I only wish you the best, and hope is not one of them. Holistic and natural healing methods practiced by top integrative and holistic MDs and ODs and others in the country get results. Blessings and love to you.

Wobenzym saved my life. It totally removes the chronic headaches that I suffer.

    • connie tyler says:

So happy to hear that. I take 3 in the morning and 3 at night to keep the pain at bay in my spine due to osteoporosis.

  66. Kris says:

I just started Wobenzym and am taking 3 in am and 3 in pm. For those of you on pain medications…did you find after starting Wobenym, you didn’t need as much of your pain medications? Also, how long did it take for you to notice a difference in your pain, after starting Wobenzym?

How do all of take the Wobenzym — do you take it on an empty stomach before meals?
When do you take a night dose?

Would appreciate any tips and help!
    Thank you!

I was taking many nsaids for over 5 years for chronic back & hip pain & chronic morning stiffness. Then I injured my knee. Nsaids weren’t helping my knee pain & someone at the healthfood store suggested WobenzymeN for it. He also said I needed to do a mild cleanse for a few days before starting this product to prevent gastric upset. I eat a very healthy diet but did a fruit /veggie/white fish only diet along with a lot of water & a cup or two of green tea per day for 4 days before starting the W. I started with 3 twice a day. I have had no gastric upset in the 8 months I’ve been on it unless I eat a really heavy meal. My pain is mostly gone, no morning stiffness and my knee injury has healed. No nsaids for 8 months.
I tried not taking any and after 3 days back/hip pain & morning stiffness returned.
I now take 2, twice a day & feel great.

  67. connie says:

I take 3 first thing in the morning when I get out of bed and 3 before I go to bed at night. I don’t take any other pain medication as I”m leery of bad side effects. I found that Wobenzym works very quickly on any discomfort I have in my back. My husband also takes it in the morning.

    • Kris says:

      Thank you.

      • Patricia Gragg says:

KRIS, YOU HAVE TO TAKE IT ON AN EMPTY STOMACH 45 MIN. BEFORE A MEAL. IT DOES WORK, I HURT MY KNEE ABOUT 15 YRS AGO, AND I COULD HARDLY WALK. I STARTED ON THE WOBENZYME THAT NIGHT AND THE NEXT DAY THE PAIN WAS GONE.

  68. Steve says:

Anbody out there with psoriatic artritis on wobenzym? I am on methotrxate & enbrel, and would love to cut back on this toxic garbage, however if im not on these, my joints lock up and it is difficult to move.

I would suggest you talk with one of Life Extension Foundation’s Health Advisors (if you are a member) http://www.LEF.org) or call Luanne Pennesi RN MSN http://www.MetropolitanWellness.com, and also research the issue at http://www.GaryNull.com under Articles at the PRN.fm link. I took 9 per day 3 each time as directed. No side effects but great results blood pressure down no stomach issues and it relieved all pain. Best product ever I think there are alot of people that write when they have problems with a product but few with success. I think everyone should try it.

I love Wobenzyme, it has helped me so much over the years, I would not be without it.

  74. pat says:

To whom it may concern. Would Wobenzyme help a person who has Chronic Lymphocystic Leuemia?

    • Patricia Gragg says:

Wobenzyme helps to get rid of inflammation in the body. I am not sure about the condition you are concerned about, but I do know that it can only help to improve your health, and you have to take more. It is a wonderful supplement. Read ” Beyond Aspirin” It will give you more Info

      • Kris says:

What is the difference between Wobenzym N and Wobenzym PS? From what I can see, the PS has higher mg of Bromelain, Rutin, and Trypsin. ** Have any of you had success more with one than the other?

I took a whole bottle of the Wobenzym PS and took 3 in am and 3 before bed. I didn’t notice any difference so I stopped taking it. I am considering retrying it.

I wanted your opinion. I will be calling the Medical Advisory Board at the company Seroyal where I buy the Wobenzym, too, for additional information.

Would you please let me know? Thank you!

Does Wobenzym typically have a strong odor? I just received my first bottle. When I opened it there was a distinct odor that was not pleasant. I don’t mind if it’s suppose to smell that way. I take several supplements and some don’t have a pleasant smell but I just want to make sure I didn’t get a bad batch or something. Thank you.

just had some arthroscopic surgery in my knee. the surgeon drilled holes in the knee cap and said this will cause blood to flow under the knee cap and form a scar tissue there which will serve as a cushion for the knee cap.
I still have a lot of swelling from the surgery 14 days later.
I would like to start the Wobenzyme for the swelling but afraid it will affect the scar tissue underneath the knee cap
    any thoughts on this?

  80. Joyce says:

I periodically take Wobenzym (Garden of Life brand). I found that for me, 5′ 1″ 120 lb woman, 2 pills in the morning 30-45 min before breakfast and 2 pills at night 2 hours after dinner work great for inflammation in my shoulder. Be sure you don’t lie down for a least 15 minutes after taking them or they can cause reflux. Also, I started having issues with my shoulder getting worse after being on the pills for extended length of time. I called Garden of Life and they reccommended only taking them until I felt like the inflammation was better and then taking a break. So now I only take them when it hurts, maybe for a week. No more negative issues, and it does help immediately when I do take them.

  81. Carol says:

I started taking this supplement about 3 weeks ago for ringing in the ears. I am also taking some vitamins and minerals along with it and on a sugar/dairy/flour free diet to kill of systemic candida. I have noticed relief but I’m not totally okay. I have hopes that Wobenzyme plus my diet will help me heal completely
