I am scheduled for colon re-section next Tuesday to remove a stricture of scar tissue which has been forming and narrowing over 10 years.
Upon consulting about the use of Serrapeptase it was suggested I use Wobenzyme post surgically as an anti-inflammatory. (The person I spoke with had not heard about Serrapeptase/Serratia).
I picked up a bottle of Wobenzym N, Garden of Life, and decided to start taking it ahead of time to get a sense of my body's response. I followed the "3 at a time on an empty stomach", once a day for three days
with sudden, immediate , pretty severe consequences until I could no longer bear the continual cramping, bloating, diarrhea, and I stopped. I was puzzled and scared. Symptoms continued another day or so until I took a dose of milk of magnesia and had some relief. A week later I am fine but my "gut" still tender. My diverticulosis never made me feel THIS bad.
So now, today, I'm reading here about side effects and have decided it wouldn't be a good idea to subject my colon to such activity when it's trying to heal. I wish I had become aware sooner, with enough time to ease into taking Wobenzym N as it still sounds very promising.
I would very much like to hear more about the comparison between the Garden of Life product as opposed to the Mucos/Douglas Labs product. The ingredients are listed as identical.
[I have been taking Serratia Peptidase Enzyme (90,000 units) for 5 days with no ill effects].

I will be grateful for comments on my posting.
Thank you all for your contributions to this blog.

Has anyone used this product to alleviate tendon injuries? I have a bad case of tendonitis and healing is taking forever. I am considering using this product.

From what I'm reading about all these adverse side effects, they should be posted on the bottle. People need to know the risk they're taking with these kinds of things.

Took Wobenzym N (started with only two pills) and felt jittery and anxious soon after. My blood pressure went up and I suffered from a headache for most of the day. I felt bad all day due to the anxiety and head ache. I will not take this product again. I am very sensitive to all drugs and am sure that I am sensitive to this product too. I am sure it works well for some, just not me.

Ok, i've been taking 3 a day for the 1st couple days. My body reacted w/ diarhea and nausea. So I started taking 2/day, and still got the same results. So I started taking 2 every other day- still same results. I have t1 diabetes and noticed that my sugars are more in control. I also eat less, but that is probably an effect of feeling nausea and seeing all food as blaaa- I just wanna throw up. I think I lost like 5 pounds. What if I'm actually pregnant? Yet, I don't think you can be full blow nausea a week before your period is due. I like this supplement, but my morning nausea is annoying.
